Coalition Talks Intensify as Regional Parties Gain Influence in 2025 Elections

New Delhi: Following a fractured mandate in the 2025 Lok Sabha elections, coalition talks are intensifying in Delhi as regional parties emerge as kingmakers. With no party securing an outright majority, several key players are now in talks to form a stable government.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 241 seats, falling short of the 272 needed for a majority. Meanwhile, the Indian National Congress (INC) improved its tally to 131, while regional parties like the Trinamool Congress (TMC), DMK, and AAP collectively hold over 100 seats.

“We are open to discussions that respect federal values and regional aspirations,” said Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal and TMC leader.
